Our Services
The creative team at Maihen Framing work closely with galleries, art collectors, artists, interior designers, and the public to establish the right frame, mount, and hanging system for each project.
We specialise in the highest quality conservation and museum-level framing techniques, ensuring your artwork will be beautifully displayed and protected for years to come.
Our bespoke framing services
We have an extensive range of frame, mount, fillet, and glass types for you to look at during your consultation and price ranges to accommodate different budgets. Consultations are advisable by appointment to ensure we can give you the time to discuss your framing requirements in detail.
Glass and cast acrylic
We stock a range of glazing options from float glass through to Museum grade UV Artglass and acrylic.
Our specialist UV Water White glass produces only 1% reflection while protecting your artwork from harmful ultra violet rays.
Conservation
Each piece brought in for framing will be displayed in a fully reversible method, meaning no harmful materials, double-sided tapes, glues, or staples are used. Artwork on paper is hinged using archival tabs or Japanese mulberry hinges depending on the weight of the paper.
Textile pieces such as embroideries, tapestries, and cross stitches are laced and stretched over acid-free wadding and mountboard. Fabric pieces such as clothing, rugs, and silk scarves are hand stitched with colourfast threads in the suitable weight onto conservation or museum mountboard carefully positioned to look almost invisible.
Hand-finished mouldings
We offer a wide range of bare wood mouldings in oak, ash, tulip, beech, cherry, obeche, and lime that can be stained, waxed or hand-painted to create a truly beautiful bespoke frame.
Your frame will be precision mitred and joined before being sanded and given its chosen finish.
Textile mounts
Textiles such as embroideries, tapestries and cross stitches are laced and stretched over acid-free wadding. Fabric pieces such as clothing, rugs, and silk scarves are hand stitched without showing visible threads onto conservation or museum mountboard.
